ISF Filing “10+2″ FAQ’s

On November 25, 2008, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) published an interim final rule entitled “Importer Security Filing and Additional Carrier Requirements” in the Federal Register (73 FR 71730). The interim final rule requires both importers and carriers to submit additional information pertaining to cargo to CBP before the cargo is brought into the United States by vessel. CBP has received numerous questions concerning the interim final rule. To assist the trade community in understanding the expectations of CBP concerning the Importer Security Filing and Additional Carrier Requirements rule, CBP in this document has provided responses to the most frequently asked questions. CBP will continually be updating and clarifying this document as necessary. Please visit http://www.cbp.gov/for the latest information on the Importer Security Filing “10+2″ program. Most of the information on “10+2″ can be found at the following link: http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/trade/cargo_security/carriers/security_filing/.

BRAZIL:
IT IS THE FUTURE
MAY 18, 2010
Sao Paulo

Future

The Americas Society/Council of the Americas and Apex-Brasil will hold a conference to analyze Brazil’s new role in the region and the world, examine Brazil’s economic prospects and trends for 2010 and beyond, and discuss key issues-such as innovation, technology and clean energy-that may play a fundamental role in the country’s development.

As one of the world’s rising powers, Brazil has seen its political and economic importance grow internationally in the last years. The impact of the recent economic crisis on the country was small and economic growth projections for 2010 hover around an impressive five percent. Moreover, Brazil is set to host both the World Cup and the Olympics in 2014 and 2016, which will bring needed investments to the country and create new jobs. But Brazil still faces challenges. To deepen growth the country will also need to identify the key sectors that will lead to future competitiveness.
